Sunny spells and a few coastal wintry showers.
A cold start with a widespread frost and icy patches on untreated roads and pavements. However many places see a bright day with sunny spells with just a few wintry showers, these mainly for coastal areas. Mainly light winds. Maximum temperature 4 deg C (39 deg F).
Wintry showers continue towards the coast but long clear spells and light winds lead to widespread, locally severe frost with icy patches on untreated surfaces and perhaps some patchy fog. Minimum temperature -8 deg C (18 deg F).
Cold and frosty. Many areas dry and bright with mist thinning but a few snow showers near the east coast later. Light winds. Maximum temperature 4 deg C (39 deg F).
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Remaining cold with sunny or clear spells. Often dry but gradually snow showers developing. Sharp overnight frosts.
